Reading: SOLs:

 2.12-Write stories, letters, and simple explanations

2.9-read and demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction text

Some friends are not completing their reading assignment on a nightly basis It will be logged the same as last year, and the expectation is that students read 30 minutes. Also, please have them log in two steps and place your signature beside it. On a daily basis, we should have 4 steps. The time may be broken into intervals. PLEASE SIGN READING LOGS NIGHTLY

Last week, we worked on lessons/morals. This week, we will be working on opinion writing about an author’s message

Math: We are continuing with time this week. Next week, we will be working on money up to $2.00. Please encourage your child to practice time by asking them to tell you the time on the clock. Also, use an analog and a digital clock with them.  IXL is a good website to help with subtracting with regrouping and all of the upcoming skills. If you can not find your child’s password, please let me know and I will get it to you.

Social studies: With the expo coming on Tuesday, I did not give the kids a quiz on famous people

Science: WE are starting magnets this week

Monday:  math sheet, 2 steps, write spelling words one time each

Tuesday: math shee;(in class), 2 steps (Wed.) Please have your child at school by 5:15 for the Weather Expo. Please allow them to stay for the entire weather expo.

Wednesday: 2 steps; math sheet; write spelling words one time each- no school due to conferences

Thursday:  2 steps; take a practice test

Friday: 2 steps and have a great weekend!; math checkup on time

v Mar. 16 – March Madness Spirit Day #2: Go Green! (Recycle those green things you wore today!)

v Mar. 23 – March Madness Spirit Day #3: Colorful Classes! (Each grade will show its unity by trying to get as many of its students and teachers to wear the same color: pre-K/K – purple, 1^st – blue, 2^nd – yellow, 3^rd – orange)
