Week of February 26th

February 26th-March 2nd
We use these words to be great citizens:

Reading: SOLs:
 2.12-Write stories, letters, and simple explanations
2.9-read and demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction text
Some friends are not completing their reading assignment on a nightly basis It will be logged the same as last year, and the expectation is that students read 30 minutes. Also, please have them log in two steps and place your signature beside it. On a daily basis, we should have 4 steps. The time may be broken into intervals. PLEASE SIGN READING LOGS NIGHTLY
We are working on animal stories. Last week, we focused on problem and solution. This week we will work on moral of a story( lesson)

Math: telling time is this week. Please encourage your child to practice time by asking them to tell you the time on the clock. Also, use an analog and a digital clock with them.  IXL is a good website to help with subtracting with regrouping and all of the upcoming skills. If you can not find your child’s password, please let me know and I will get it to you.
Social studies: Famous people: Caesar Chavez, Helen Keller, Abraham Lincoln, Jackie Robinson, Susan B Anthony, Martin Luther King, Christopher Columbus, Thurgood Marshall, Susan B Anthony, George Washington Carver, etc…. This week, we will review and a quiz will be on Friday
Homework
Do your know your power goal?
Turn in spelling homework on Friday
Monday: ath sheet, 2 steps, write spelling words one time each
Tuesday: math sheet, 2 steps
Wednesday: 2 steps; math sheet; write spelling words one time each
Thursday:  2 steps; take a practice test
Friday: 2 steps and have a great weekend!; math checkup on time

   Tuesday: Horton Hears a Who – Feel free to come to school with “Who hair”

   Thursday: Hooray for Diffendoofer Day – Kids will dress as teachers to celebrate the innovative school in this book.
Friday: Green Eggs and Ham – Wear as much green as you can and wait until you see what the cafeteria has in store…
