Week of April 17th-21st

2.8 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts. a) make and confirm predictions. b) relate previous experiences to the main idea. C) ask and answer questions about what is read. d) locate information to answer questions. e) describe characters, setting and important events  in fiction and  poetry. F) identify the problem and solution. g) identify the main idea.  h) summarize stories with beginning, middle and end in the correct sequence.  i) draw conclusions based on the text. J) read and reread familiar stories, poems, and passages with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression.
Writing: We are starting our last unit in reading- It is all about jobs and what that job is the best job to have- persuasive writing
Math: 4th nine weeks
2.16 TSW with identify, describe, compare, and contrast plane and solid geometric figures (circle/sphere, square/cube, rectangle/rectangular prism)
Vocabulary:  two-dimension (plane), three-dimension (solid figure), vertex, angle, line segments, rays, circle, sphere, square, cube, rectangle, rectangular prism, edge, face, base intersect, geometric figures
Science: 2.5              
The student will investigate and understand that living things are part of a system. Key concepts include
a)   living organisms are interdependent with their living and nonliving surroundings;
b)   an animal’s habitat includes adequate food, water, shelter or cover, and space;
c)   habitats change over time due to many influences
Important Dates:
Month of April is the Month of the Military Child. On the 21st, all students and staff are ask to wear purple to show support. If you have a relative or yourself in the military, please send in a picture to go on the Wall of Fame for the month (PTA will return pictures)

Thursday: 2 steps, quiz on plane shapes on Friday
Friday: complete steps for reading for the weekend and have fun with the family

Please check your child’s agenda each night and initial or sign by the color he/she earns for the day. Check red folders daily for any updates from the school or work completed
