Week of February 8th

It's Superbowl Sunday.......
Phonics Story: Birthday Joy (oi, oy, suffix: -ful)
Unit 4 Story 2: The Best Older Sister (skill-theme, strategy- visualizing)
Target Skills:  1) Theme, 2) vowel dipthongs oi, oy, 3) suffix –ful, 4) adjectives, 5) listen to a description, 6) “How To” Writing.
 2.5 TSW use phonetic strategies when reading and spelling. a) Use knowledge of consonants, consonant blends, and consonant digraphs to decode and spell words. b) Use knowledge of short, long, and r-controlled vowel patterns to decode and spell words. c) Decode regular multisyllabic words.
2.6 TSW use semantic clues and syntax to expand vocabulary when reading. a) Use information in the story to read words. b) Use knowledge of sentence structure. c) Use knowledge of story structure and sequence. d) Reread and self-correct.
2.7 TSW expand vocabulary when reading. d) Discuss meanings of words and develop vocabulary by listening and reading a variety of texts. e) use vocabulary from other content areas
2.8 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts. a) make and confirm predictions. b) relate previous experiences to the main idea. C) ask and answer questions about what is read. d) locate information to answer questions. e) describe characters, setting and important events in fiction and  poetry. F) identify the problem and solution. g) identify the main idea.  h) summarize stories with beginning, middle and end in the correct sequence.  i) draw i based on the text. J) read and reread familiar stories, poems, and passages with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression.
Social Studies: Famous Americans: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller, and Susan B Anthony
Math- We are starting subtraction with regrouping
Estimating differences quiz will be Wednesday
Homework
Monday:  math sheet, read for 20 mins, study In notes in social studies notebook
Tuesday: math sheet, read for 20 mins, study In notes in social studies notebook
Wednesday:  Read for 20 minutes., study In notes in social studies notebook, math sheet, quiz on Estimating differences
Thursday:  Read for 20 minutes, reread The Best Older Sister,  study IN notes, math sheet
Friday: Test on The Best Older Sister
Friday: Read a great book

       Please check your child’s agenda each night and initial or sign by the color he/she earns for the day. Also, be sure to look through the red folder on Mondays to sign graded papers sheet and clean out. Please keep all social studies test and science test for nine weeks test in their social studies or science IN notebook
