Reading:
SOLs: 2.7- Expand
vocabulary when reading d0 discuss meaning of words and develop vocabulary by
listening and reading a variety of texts. 2.13- Edit writing for correct
grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. J)- Use verbs and
adjectives correctly in a sentence
Students are still working on stamina,
but they seem to enjoy that they are back into the reading book bins. Your
child will be re-leveled and may have a different reading level than where they
ended based on where they are reading now. Sometime students slide or gain in
the summer, and that changes the beginning of the year level slightly.
Reading homework and logs will be going
home the first week of October school-wide. It will be logged the same as last
year, and the expectation is that students read 30 minutes. The time may be
broken into intervals
Social
Studies: We will
have a citizenship quiz on Wednesday( open notes and I will read it to them)
and a map quiz on Friday on the seven continents and the 5 oceans.2.6 use
globes and maps to locate the seven continents, 5 oceans, equator, four
hemispheres, etc…..
Math: 2.1-
read, write, and identify the place and value of each digit in a three digit numeral
with and without a model
WE
are completing two steps in reading in class during IRLA time
Homework
