Phonics Story: Hear the Cheers (ear, eer; suffix -ly)

Unit 4 Story 1: The Great Ball Game (strategy: connections; skill-classifying)

Target Skills:  1) 2.4b r-controlled ear, eer, 2) 2.8c classifying, 3) 2,6a suffixes –ly and –y,

4) 2.11c adjectives, 5) 2.2a Listen in sequence, 6) graphic sources – pictures/charts. 

 2.5 TSW use phonetic strategies when reading and spelling. a) Use knowledge of consonants, consonant blends, and consonant digraphs to decode and spell words. b) Use knowledge of short, long, and r-controlled vowel patterns to decode and spell words. c) Decode regular multisyllabic words.

2.6 TSW use semantic clues and syntax to expand vocabulary when reading. a) Use information in the story to read words. b) Use knowledge of sentence structure. c) Use knowledge of story structure and sequence. d) Reread and self-correct.

2.7 TSW expand vocabulary when reading. d) Discuss meanings of words and develop vocabulary by listening and reading a variety of texts. e) use vocabulary from other content areas

2.8 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts. a) make and confirm predictions. b) relate previous experiences to the main idea. C) ask and answer questions about what is read. d) locate information to answer questions. e) describe characters, setting and important events in fiction and  poetry. F) identify the problem and solution. g) identify the main idea.  h) summarize stories with beginning, middle and end in the correct sequence.  i) draw conclusions based on the text. J) read and reread familiar stories, poems, and passages with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression.

Grammar: TSW use adjectives to elaborate and expand simple sentences 2.12.9. TSW use adjectives correctly in sentences 2.13j.

Science:

Review week-  9 wks Science test is Thursday

Math:

Review week- 9 weeks test is Wednesday

Wednesday:  Read for 20 minutes., study IN notes in science, 90 mins early release

Thursday:  Read for 20 minutes- 90 min early release

Friday: Read a great book

       Please check your child’s agenda each night and initial or sign by the color he/she earns for the day. Also, be sure to look through the red folder on Mondays to sign graded papers sheet and clean out. Please keep all social studies test and science test for nine weeks test in their social studies or science IN notebook
