Week of April 9th

April 9th-13th
We use these words to be great citizens:
GRIT:  Gumption(initiative) Resilience ( to recover quickly from difficulties),Integrity(being honest), Tenacity(persistence-never giving up)
Reading: SOLs:
 2.12-Write stories, letters, and simple explanations
2.9-read and demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction text
Some friends are not completing their reading assignment on a nightly basis It will be logged the same as last year, and the expectation is that students read 30 minutes. Also, please have them log in two steps and place your signature beside it. On a daily basis, we should have 4 steps. The time may be broken into intervals. PLEASE SIGN READING LOGS NIGHTLY
This week, we will start a new unit in reading. It is called Jobs! We will have our field trip on Thursday.

Math: WE are working on measurement this week and then we will start on symmetry. IXL is great for  the upcoming skills. If you do not have your child’s password, please let me know and I will get it to you.
Science: WE will finish magnets and starting plants- unless I decide to change
Homework
Do your know your power goal?
No spelling this week!
Monday: 2 steps
Tuesday: 2 steps
Wednesday: 2 steps
Thursday:  2 steps
Friday: 2 steps daily
No math homework this week due to measurement- we will be working on inches, pounds, ounces, etc…
