Please donate to APEX Fun Run- Last Year, we were able to purchase new playground equipment from the proceeds and the teachers get 10% back to use in the classroom

Our PTA Book Fair / Coin Drive begins THIS Wednesday! 
Kids are asked to bring in donations as follows:
Wednesday, March 8th – pennies
Thursday, March 9th – nickelsFriday, March 10th – dimesMonday, March 13th – quarters
Tuesday, March 14th – dollar bills

Please put coins/bills in a baggie or envelope with teacher and child's name.
We are working on our animal genre unit of study
2.8 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts. a) make and confirm predictions. b) relate previous experiences to the main idea. C) ask and answer questions about what is read. d) locate information to answer questions. e) describe characters, setting and important events  in fiction and  poetry. F) identify the problem and solution. g) identify the main idea.  h) summarize stories with beginning, middle and end in the correct sequence.  i) draw conclusions based on the text. J) read and reread familiar stories, poems, and passages with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression.
Writing: We will be creating character stories; we have been learning about main characters, supporting characters, and setting. –WE will publish our first writing this week!
Math: SOL: 2.12 The student will tell and write time to the nearest five minutes, using analog and digital clocks.
•Show, tell, and write time to the nearest five minutes, using an analog and digital clock
• Match a written time to a time shown on a clock face to the nearest five minutes.
Vocabulary: analog, digital, quarter after, quarter before, half past, minute hand, hour hand, second hand
Science: 2.2 the student will investigate and understand that natural and artificial magnets have certain characteristics and attract specific types of metals
Vocabulary: magnetism, iron, magnetic/nonmagnetic, poles, attract/repel

03/06  Book Fair begins 
(our preview time is 9:50-10:10); 3/7- yearbook and class picture orders are due/ interims go home; 3/10- APEX Fun Run- all are welcome, 2nd grade time is 12:15-1:15; 3/12- Daylight saving time; 3/13- Grand lunch; 3/14 and 3/15- conferences scheduled before and after school

Monday: 2 steps; math sheet
Tuesday: 2 steps; study science notes
Wednesday  2 steps ; math sheet
Thursday: 2 steps; study math notes for time test and math board quiz
Friday: complete steps for reading for the weekend and have fun with the family

Please check your child’s agenda each night and initial or sign by the color he/she earns for the day. Check red folders daily for any updates from the school or work completed
