Week of February 13th-17th

Reading skills for the various reading levels for the week:
We are working on our animal genre unit of study
2.8 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts. a) make and confirm predictions. b) relate previous experiences to the main idea. C) ask and answer questions about what is read. d) locate information to answer questions. e) describe characters, setting and important events  in fiction and  poetry. F) identify the problem and solution. g) identify the main idea.  h) summarize stories with beginning, middle and end in the correct sequence.  i) draw conclusions based on the text. J) read and reread familiar stories, poems, and passages with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression.
Writing: We will be creating character stories; we have been learning about main characters, supporting characters, and setting. This week, we will add plot, social setting culture, and
Math SOL 2.7 The student, given two whole numbers, each of which is 99 or less, will
a) estimate the difference; and
b) find the difference, using various methods of calculation
Vocabulary:  tens, ones, difference, regroup, subtract, digit and estimate

Social Studies  2.4The student will describe how the contributions of selected individuals changed the lives of Americans, with emphasis on  Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, George Washington, martin Luther King, Jr, Thurgood Marshall

Feb 14th Card Exchange Day and PTA Board Mtg at 5pm, 2/15-  Worksheet Free Wednesday, 2/20- President’s Day- No school for students and staff, 2/21- WHRO Stem class for second graders ,

Tuesday: 2 steps, chapters 10

Wednesday:  2 steps for ( reading); chapters 11 &12; math sheet

Thursday: 2 steps for ( reading); report cards
Friday: complete steps for reading for the weekend and have fun with the family

Please check your child’s agenda each night and initial or sign by the color he/she earns for the day. Check red folders daily for any updates from the school or work completed
