November 17th


Homework  11/17- 11/21
Spelling words- we will not have a spelling test this week but we will be working on short and long vowels in word study

Target skills:) Phonics: Long a- ai, ay; Long i- igh, I, y, ie; Long o-o, oa, ow, oe; r controlled-er, ir, ur; -ce, -ge, -se) (other-inflected endings –s, -es, -ing; medial consonants; plurals –s, -es; compound words; singular and plural possessives)
Skills/Strategies:  compare and contrast, steps in a process, sequence, graphic sources, predicting, questioning, determining importance, summarizing

Stories of the week:
Week six of unit 2: No story this week. We will be working on cold reads to help them prepare for their unit test on Thursday.

History- 2.2 Lives and contribution of American Indians- Powhatan, Lakota, and Pueblo
Math- Rounding( this is a very hard skill for 2nd graders) , estimating with adding, adding without and with regrouping

Monday:  Read for 20 minutes (AR book)and sign reading log.  Math sheet, study IN  notes

Tuesday:  Read for 20 minutes and sign reading log, math sheet, and study history IN notes

Wednesday:  Read for 20 minutes., study History IN , math sheet,

Thursday:  Read for 20 minutes, study history notes,

      Please check your child’s agenda each night and initial or sign by the color he/she earns for the day. Also, be sure to look through the red folder on Mondays to sign graded papers sheet and clean out. Please keep all social studies test and science test for nine weeks test in their social studies or science IN notebook
